The Art of Anticipations...

Half of life's agony lies in waiting....

Yes...A huge portion of our life goes on in anticipation...And this goes on as a contagious and consequential process...One after another...And by the time we take the trouble to look back at our huge list of anticipations and their respective materialisations , we will come to know that our hair has gone all salt...and not a tiny spark of pepper remains...

Why does this happen? Why do we need to allow our lives to pass on in anticipation so much that we come to realise this only when we get old? The time when all our wishes have almost drained out that we do not have anything to look forward to...In fact...the time when we do not have any energy left to anticipate further as we would have already reach the evening...err...the dusk of our life...That is the only time in life when we regret about this habit...

This particular point struck me( Bang!!!) on my head when  I was about to start my usual frowning and the huge list of complaints...I understood that I will never see my image as a happy person. After each of my wait ends, I somehow  find the next one to yearn for...much before the agony of the old one subsides. This also means that there is absolutely no celebration or joy (even the inner satisfaction) of having ended the long wait at last...Much before it dawns on me that the wait has actually ended, another one has got replaced and I see myself waiting for something else...entirely on a new road..with the same energy and absolutely no boredom (of waiting again and again for one or the other thing)...It's much like a race among the events to occupy my waiting list...And that's the reason why this waiting list never gets vacant.

I believe, we all..whether in a little or a large manner, go through this. People say..Man's greed to get more and more..And also the moral stories we have learnt at kindergarten..The story of "The Goose That Laid the Golden Eggs..."..When we are not satisfied with what we have...We need more and more, again and again...One after another...That we will never say 'Enough..."

No..we are not like that..We are extremely good people. So let's not accuse ourselves...Alright. Now let's see what we do...

Lord Sree Krishna once told Draupadi..." Don't try to foresee your future please...Because, once you start doing it, you start losing the joy of living in the present...And ultimately, you will also not be able to stop what is going to happen...Because, it happens only according to the Divine Wish"...

Yes. We know that everything is predestined. When we place our belief on the Supreme Power, we'll start living with a new energy and zeal...Because, that time we know that we will get what we deserve...What is best for us.

So, let's stop waiting like this...Let's wait more happily...And start HOPING...Because when wait makes us frustrated, hope gives us the power to live each moment to the fullest...As hope springs from an unshakable faith in the divine...

Let's not put off living for the sake of anything...

And enjoy the sheer beauty of living with abundant hope...In the present...

Navarathri...

The festive season of Navarathri is coming to a close..Bomakolu...Bonhomie..Lights..Sweets...Books kept for Pooja..Prayers...Music..Family get togethers...Temples....The nine spiritual days have passed quite well with lots of fervour and enthusiasm and we are on the Vijayadasami day...The day that signifies the victory of good over evil...The nine days, actually are celebrated in bunches of 3 days each...

First Three days: Goddess Durga

The first three days are dedicated to Goddess Durga. The Goddess who gives the strength to the mind...Who instills one with noble virtues...makes the mind pure...and who gives us the courage to take on life with a bold and right perspective...

Second Three Days: Goddess Lakshmi

Goddess Lakshmi is known to be the source of all forms of wealth. Worshipping her assures prosperity and abundance of wealth. Wealth of a spiritual nature is also to be mentioned here. In fact, it is this spiritual wealth that matters the most. And that makes the mind pure...

Last Three Days: Goddess Saraswathy

Only a pure mind is an embodiment of true knowledge...Self knowledge is bestowed upon us by Goddess Saraswathy on the last three days...

Vijayadasami signifies the victory of good over evil...In fact, it is when we win over ourselves...The moment of self realisation is the true spirit of Vijayadasami...Knowing this, I wish we all will be able to win over the tiny evils within ourselves and emerge successful and greatly victorious!!!

Wishing you all great days ahead...

The Beginning...

So, this is when we get into the opening...the start.

Often, what I have found is that, once we get the paraphernalia right to kick start something to action, we are ready to gather all our energies, enthusiasm and excitement freely into it. Remember the earliest days of putting into action a new resolution?? The only thing is that there is a lot of tendency to get back very easily to the stage prior to this initiation...We just give up mid way and somehow find an excuse to return to what we call our 'normalcy'...

Why does this happen? Is it because we were too comfortable with the earlier stage? Were we so content? Were we so attached to our erstwhile identity that we just didn't want to get it maneuvered in any form, however minute it may be? Even if we are pretty sure that it will, in some form, result in our own drive towards personal expansion? Then..why at all did we think of trying to come up with a new idea to bring about a transformation?

There is only one reason why we try going back. We resist the change happening. We just try to freeze within our comfort zones. And this inertia happens to everyone. The only ones who come out of it are those who consciously overcome this.
And now the way to keep ourselves going strongly with our reformative plans is to observe. Just observe what really is happening. The thing is that, most of the problems arise when we view too much from the internal perspective. What if we try seeing it inside out? I mean, just looking at yourself from an outside angle? As if we are a complete stranger to ourselves?

Then...we see...the way we behave. When we just step out from our own shoes, at least for a few minutes..we observe, understand and more importantly, start getting closer to our real selves.

Now what do we see when we step back? The image of our own selves?  Okay..Let's imagine,,
We see ourselves (our image) slightly taking a step back..And finding an excuse..ruthlessly kicking back that idea that pops up, yelling "Hey you told me you are going to stick to this!!!".

And before that image goes into a stage of self-abnegation, we suddenly put off our shoes (Remember Cinderella??;) and become ourselves again and say...No...I am not going to give up...

This is how it works...Because, often..what it takes to keep on with a resolution is a few seconds of deep thought..Just a few seconds about why this resolution...rather... why not keep up with this?

And once we are able to surmount  that small obstacle, we have won over ourselves. And that is when we get back to our real selves...Because, those few seconds are the difference between what I wanted to be and what I am today...

God knows...those few seconds may, in the long run..even shape the way your life is going to get a major turnaround...

Once we understand this, it will be far easier for us to bring about any changes that we may desire to implement. After everything is said and done, remember, its our life. And only we can decide the way it should turn out to be.
